Why the Blog Name?

My version of Hippie is a little bit messy and a whole lot of happy. I enjoy celebrating life, very occasionally with spirits (in older days it was pot as well) and ALL the time with music. I have been blessed with the responsibility of a forever child (he’ll be 37 this month). Through him I have learned much about what is important on our journey on this planet and believe I will be riding to Heaven on his coat tails!

The Hippie values are so beautifully aligned with Jesus. There is no gender or race bias. Self enlightenment and mindfulness are a byproduct of this lifestyle choice. Peace, love & music are acknowledged as integral to having a happy and fulfilling life.

You are welcomed in our circle whether you are monetarily poor or rich. Somewhere along the way “they” have suckered folks into equating value & happiness with the accumulation of money and that is a major reason why this world is full of so many unhappy and sometimes abjectly miserable people. Hippie communes (yes, there are still a few of these around) resemble and are probably modeled after the Acts Church Community.

I am a Pacifist with every fiber of my being. There is no such thing as a justified killing. If there is anything that I am a FREAK about it would be that. Another aspect of being a freak is being non-conformist. It is the ability or attempt to live in a radical way within a societal structure. It is being free from the inside out. Our freedom is an innate gift that we throw away every day by giving that freedom up to outside forces or influences. The process of reclaiming that freedom is self enlightenment. The end result is Peace, which is my wish for humanity.

War is Unacceptable 9-11-2015

Today is the 14th anniversary of the awful tragedy that happened in New York City on September 11th 2001 as well as DC and Pennsylvania. I am pretty much going to take a break from Facebook today. I cannot post what is in my heart so I turn to my anonymous Blog. I feel in my gut and have researched enough to believe this is another in a long line of “False Flag” events. This in no way detracts from/dishonors the heroism and valor of the first responders and the ordinary people who were extraordinary in the most dangerous and difficult circumstances we have ever witnessed in America.

The culture that enabled this tragedy must be addressed. It sorrows my soul that children and adults are terrorized, maimed and killed by weapons that are manufactured by Americans and too often used by Americans. We live in and endorse a culture of war.  Killing is wrong. It is that simple. It makes no difference which “side” is doing it or what the reason, history or justification. It is wrong to arm and teach a person to kill or to kill with drones. It is wrong to assassinate anyone. The fulfillment of the death penalty is making someone a killer.

Unfortunately, our churches spend more time either being morally superior and judging sinners or teaching the prosperity/feel good way (and BTW we need some money to keep up the good work) than modeling being servants and loving the “unlovely” and have totally dropped the ball on Biblical truths.

Christians as a whole group should be working for peace. Might does not make right, never has ~ never will. The fact that America has enough destructive weapons to annihilate all of humanity is not comforting (in fact it is terrifying) when you take into consideration the lunatics that are in charge of what is going on in the world right now. War & weapons of mass destruction are unacceptable. Period.

We Christians are not supposed to turn our noses up in distaste at the messy parts of life or “messy” people. We are supposed to roll up our sleeves and use the talents that God gave us to straighten up the messes and love people into Grace. And if you don’t have the stomach for it, at least don’t get in the way of folks who are ! ! ! If you have resources that are in abundance and you know your Bible, then you know what you are supposed to do !

To categorize a race, ethnic, religious group, the disabled, the poor or the different thinkers as evil, stupid, to be feared or despicable is to demean one’s self. It always comes from people who are seeking validation for something missing or wrong in themselves. Unfortunately, this is being relentlessly promulgated in the media and is infecting goodhearted people with fear or stroking a susceptibility to wanting/needing to be/feel superior.

I do not blame the people who piloted those planes or the groups that are named as culpable for the wanton destruction of life on September 11, 2001. We just got a small taste of what life is like on a regular basis in so many areas of the world and too often, using American weapons and American money. I do not blame anyone. I want us all to take personal responsibility to end the status quo that says any type of killing or wanton and willful destruction of people’s homes and livelihood is allowed/accepted. You don’t have to preach this. You just have to internalize it and it will shine in your actions and demeanor.

Choice Not By Chance

This blog is actually for me.
In it I can control my environment,
write my thoughts and maybe later (and maybe not)
share it with family & friends.

Choose ye this day ~ ~ ~
“Each day and each moment you either carry your attitude with you, or your attitude carries you.”
That is a Debby-ism from a couple of weeks back.

I am blessed with a family base that was/is rich in LOVE. This has been a HUGE factor in my ability to grow into a 60+ mother, wife, friend and caregiver with a consistent evolution of receiving God’s Grace while still here on Earth. (That and talking to God every day) It helps me to choose what is important and what is not, and to balance the Martha and Mary that is in all of us.

I choose to look to myself (for the most part/ still working on it) when something is wrong or out of balance and have learned that some of the old ism’s (An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure) are valuable tools in preventing those wrongs and imbalances.

I choose to respect and value every living being
(including myself) because there is no reason that I deserve it any more than anyone else and that puts us all on equal ground,
which is where we all are in reality. It is not a
competition and there is no moral high ground that
can be earned here on earth that allows for anyone to look
down on any other human being.
If you give that respect and value to everyone
you come in contact with (or practice doing so) you are
building a better tomorrow for everyone.

I choose joy and rainbows!
It is better than any doctor or medicine
for your physical health.
Yes I cry and experience sorrow,
but I have it on good authority
(My Grandmother told me after she went to Heaven) that Joy cometh in the morning. (Selah)

Please don’t misunderstand. Satan comes knocking on my door every day and dings my spiritual armor with exquisite finesse. The more I choose to see with my inner eye from a place of love, the harder he works to divert my energy to darkness instead of light. But, you see, I have it so much easier than many. I have enough and abundance over and above enough.

So more than everything else, I choose to grow ~ at listening ~ at giving ~ at singing ~ at patience ~ at seeing beauty ~ at believing in us all ~ at being thankful for this great and marvelous GIFT of life !

The 4 greatest gifts that God has given us are
 peace, love, music and children.
